Special Crafé: Blastomycosis
November 13, 2017 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am
As part of our recent tour of northern Ontario with the mobile research lab we heard from several workers (especially from Manitoulin and Kenora region) about their concerns with blastomycosis, a fungal infection that can be contracted when working in close contact with moist soils/decomposing wood that carry the fungus. In response, we are hosting a guest speaker and infectious disease specialist from Health Sciences North, Dr. Roger Sandre, who has had experience treating several patients/workers who have had blastomycosis. Dr. Sandre will give us an overview of the epidemiology, risk factors and treatments for blastomycosis and we hope to have a discussion on how best we can move forward with educating workers about it.
Details are as follows:
Date: November 13
Speaker: Dr. Roger Sandre, MD.
Location: CROSH Lab in Ben Avery Building.
Coffee and snacks will be provided.
