CROSH Research with wildland firefighters in Ontario led by Dr. Sandra Dorman was recently featured on CBC’s The Nature of Things.
Description: Wildland firefighting is a tough, demanding job. Battling wildfires in the bush requires the stamina of an athlete. Carrying thirty-kilogram hoses into the bush can burn up to 5000 calories a day. That’s why FireRangers in northern Ontario have teamed up with CROSH researchers at Laurentian University in an innovative project monitoring stress, fatigue and fitness to protect them against injury.
