Examining how Various Over the Counter Antihistamines Modify Thermoregulatory Responses to Uncompensable Heat Stress

Researchers:

Dr. Nicholas Ravanelli and Douglas Newhouse

Following from our initial work with Benadryl, we sought to explore whether first, second, and third generation antihistamines would modify the sweating and cardiovascular response to more severe, uncompensable heat stress. This study has received clearance from Health Canada as a Phase 4 Clinical Trial with anticipation of the findings supporting worker health, particularly the information surrounding the safety consuming antihistamines prior to heat stress exposure.
