This project aims to improve the health and well-being of mining industry workers by applying the strongest correlates of a return to work after an injury/illness-related absence to the case management process via a practical tool. Drawing from the findings of Vale’s groundbreaking Mining Mental Health Study (N=2,224) this project will assess the utility and validity of a recently developed instrument (Worker Wellbeing Assessment Guide- WWAG). This tool was designed by our laboratory to assist occupational health practitioners and treatment providers a) determine the risks and needs of injured/ill workers, b) plan targeted interventions, c) measure treatment progress, and d) estimate the likelihood of a successful return-to-work (RTW).
