Position: Full Professor

My research has two complementary themes: 1) the socio-cultural investigation of sport/exercise participation, and implications for inclusion and well-being and 2) advancing qualitative methodologies in Sport Psychology and Physical Cultural Studies. This research critically explores sport and health topics (e.g., identity exclusion, gender-based violence, mental health) by attending to cultural discourses that (dis)empower people. My work centres intersecting identities (e.g., race, sexual orientation, (dis)ability, gender, age) in relation to discrimination and privilege, in sport/physical activity spaces. I also study the media as a cultural site in the context of identity, sport participation, gender equity, and health.
