Dr. Lightfoot conducts health services research about the experience, satisfaction, and access to care of patients with various medical conditions and the experiences of the healthcare providers treating those patients. She also conducts occupational health research for large groups of workers, particularly in the minerals industry. This research seeks to identify and compare the levels of various diseases in specific work areas to the levels in the general population. She has also done studies that identified risk factors for prostate cancer, determined the impact of wildfires, and evaluated cancer and pediatric cardiology patient satisfaction with care.
