CBC’s The Nature of Things Profile of CROSH Research on Wildland Firefighters

CROSH Research with wildland firefighters in Ontario led by Dr. Sandra Dorman was featured on CBC’s The Nature of Things. Wildland firefighting is a tough, demanding job. Battling wildfires in the bush requires the stamina of an athlete. Carrying thirty-kilogram hoses into the bush can burn up to 5000 calories a day. That’s why FireRangers in northern Ontario have teamed up with CROSH researchers at Laurentian University in an innovative project monitoring stress, fatigue and fitness to protect them against injury.
